QUILTING PRICES:
Quilting prices are calculated on a square inch basis.  To find the square inch measurements of your quilt top, multiply the length
times the width.
length x width x quilting  style desired =  approximate cost of  quilting

Actual charges will be figured upon actual quilt measurements taken by A Thread Runs Through It

Edge to Edge Pantograph or  Freehand Design:
Pattern sewn edge to edge across the quilt to provide an all over design.   Many designs are available from elegant to whimsical.  If
you have an idea (or even no idea) of what you want, I can help you decide or even adapt one from the fabric you are using in your
quilt.  The possibilities are endless!

Price range for Edge to Edge  accounts for differences in detail  and intensity of  patterns.. Please Inquire! This is the fastest and
most inexpensive way to have your quilt quilted.

Custom 1:
Most quilts will be enhanced by a design especially created for them.  This can be something as basic as a specific design in
similar squares or as complicated as a special design in each part of the quilt. Includes freestyle quilting, including continuous
curve outlining, line dancing, simple border and sashing treatments.

Custom 2:
Filler stitching such as small stippling around appliqué, echo quilting, complex or multiple borders and sashings, stenciled  or
marked designs.  Dense  quilting.

Note * I do minimal stitch in the ditch, or grid  quilting, Instead, choosing to
quilt a design on each side of the ditch to enhance your piecing or appliqué.
THREAD
I use  only  superior quality threads.  Please let me know if you want the thread to blend into the quilt or stand out.  Typically,
machine quilting is done with a blending thread.  In most cases, the same color thread will be used on the top and backing.
** When choosing a backing, keep in mind the color of thread you will be requesting for the top.
The nicest looking quilting is accomplished when the same color is used top and bottom.
If thread color changes are desired on the   quilt top, you’ll want to consider a back that will
easily accept both colors.
BATTING
I carry the following batting at retail prices.  Batting are purchased by the roll and offer a wrinkle free, consistnet quality.
Please reserve batting choice at time of scheduling.
        94 “ Hobbs 80/20  ( 80% cotton/20% poly)                     90” Warm & White (100% cotton)
120 “Hobbs 80/20 natural                                                    90”  Soft and Bright ( Poly)
      108” Hobbs 80/20/Bleached
        90 x 108” Hobbs 80/20 Black
BACKING
Sheets will not be accepted for backing.
Drapery lining  will not be accepted for backing.
Batik backings  coupled with a  batik pieced top  frequently  produces a  tension  nightmare.  The  thread weave is  too  dense to get
a consistant  quality  stitch.  I  cannot  guarantee the results of a  batik on batik combination.

When preparing the backing for your quilt be sure to square up the edges and allow 8” WIDER and 8”LONGER than the top. Press
seams open.

Note* Extra  wide backings frequently are not correctly on the  bolt, and therefore not cut straight  off the  bolt.  I recommend
purchasing an additional 1/2 yard of all wide backing material to insure there is enough after straightening.  Be certain your back is
straightened before measuring.

** When choosing a backing, keep in mind the color of thread you will be requesting for the top.
The nicest looking quilting is accomplished when the same color is used top and bottom.
If thread   color changes are desired on the quilt top, you’ll want to consider a back that will easily accept both colors.
ATTACHING BORDERS

Measure, measure, measure!

Before you put the borders on your quilt, measure your top down both sides AND THROUGH THE CENTER.
The average of these measurements is the size of your borders.

Important!!!   If there is a difference of less than 1”  in size from one side of the quilt to the other,
measure both sides of the quilt and through the center in the same direction,
average these three measurements.  This will square up your top nicely when the borders are added.
If there is a significant difference in size from one side of the quilt to the other,
figure out
why that is and make corrections to  bring the
quilt body  into square
BEFORE adding the borders

Pin the border on at each end and in the middle.  Ease to fit.
After stitching and pressing the first borders – measure in the opposite
direction in the three  areas to determine the correct size.
This will reduce the amount of wave in your border.
Tip: Create borders from the straight of grain of your material for less stretch.
Cross grain use tends to “grow” as it is applied.

Note*  If your quilt  top, before borders, does not have  equal measurements,
adding borders will only accentuate the problem.  Sometimes in this event,
the only solution will be to  take  tucks in the border  as it is quilted, to  keep your quilt square.

*Your quilt will be as free of pleats and puckers that the piecing will allow.
MAKING AN APPOINTMENT:
I am currently taking quilts on an appointment basis.  Call or e-mail for date availability.  This allows you to “Think Ahead” and
reserves a spot while you are still completing that project. This also gives you a target date to COMPLETE those projects.
QUILT PREPARATION

Please print these instructions and follow them carefully.
QUILT DELIVERY AND RETURN:
Please hand deliver or send your completed top and backing –
clearly labeled and pinned with a Quilting Order Form

I will notify you when your quilt is finished or if there is a delay in the scheduled time for completion.
I schedule to get your quilt completed and returned within two-three weeks from date of appointment.

If you miss your scheduled date, you will need to make another appointment.

Please, do not send or bring in your quilt more than 2 weeks prior to your appointment. If you would like to discuss the quilting
ahead of time you are welcome to bring it in when setting up an appointment, but I do not have the available space to store quilts for
more than 2 weeks in advance of the scheduled quilting date.

When return shipping is required, your quilt will be return shipped to you through the US Postal Service, Priority Mail.  Please note on
the order form the amount of insurance you wish to be placed on the package. The USPS has informed me, without a current,
documented appraisal, you can only be reimbursed for the estimated price of the fabric, batting and quilting fee.  USPS will not
insure for the “value” of your quilt without a current appraisal. On the other hand, we haven’t lost one yet!    If you have a special
shipping request, your quilt will be returned according to your wishes.
